Then again, she likely is a UU and relentlessly nice by habit.massmarrierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02358207247771711952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703913.post-68602532933953435092008-06-05T21:19:00.000-04:002008-06-05T21:19:00.000-04:00"Chrystia Freeland...argues that a Bush/Clinton/Bu..."Chrystia Freeland...argues that a Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton dynasty swapping would be both undemocratic and 'a flawed triumph for feminism.'"
That's one of the few times that anyone has addressed an underlying issue of this campaign. I don't think you have to have grown up taking in stories of the unfairness of hereditary rule to be bothered by the extent to which de facto hereditary rule has followed here in the footsteps of our unilateral imperialism. People at or nearing 40 have had a Bush, a Clinton, or both in every election of their adult lives. There were not just urinal posters at Clinton rallies, were there? There were some prescient souls whose posters read "down with monarchy." You can use "entitlement" instead of "monarchy" if you wish, but its the same thing. And that is only one piece of the wish for change that Clinton, McCain, and the pundits did not get. Another is a weariness of vitriol.

I did go to the Chaliceblog. Apart from the pointless personal invective, I thought the vitriol there was more like dilute white vinegar.

Perhaps the venting is running its course, and a critical mass of the disaffected will discover realpolitik.Unclehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17576979900477102398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703913.post-81909658201114580322008-06-05T10:47:00.000-04:002008-06-05T10:47:00.000-04:00To make it easy, you can find that The sort of pos...To make it easy, you can find that The sort of post that makes me dislike Obama supporters here. It's personal anddoesn't deal with the concepts in my post, other than to minimize racism and maximize sexism claims for the candidates' supporters. However, those weren't what the quoted FT columns were about.

Despite the spate of analysis of her almost winning the nomination, she did a lot for women here by just that. It would also be super if she actually did begin to urge her supporters to defeat the Republicans in November. Maybe that will come Saturday. It can't be too soon.massmarrierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02358207247771711952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7703913.post-87745410959689375362008-06-05T10:23:00.000-04:002008-06-05T10:23:00.000-04:00I responded to this, with great vitrol, at the Cha...I responded to this, with great vitrol, at the Chaliceblog.

CCChalicechickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07781469958573869914noreply@blogger.com
