Turning the Crank (Letter)

In the extremely unlikely case, Concerned Citizen, that you have misplaced the addresses of your Massachusetts legislators, you can find them quickly online here.

Your social action today is to write or call or both to you senator and representative -- add the governor and attorney general too. Tell them that you want a quick repeal of general laws, Chapter 11 and 12.

This pair forbids out-of-state residents from marrying in Massachusetts if the marriage would not be allowed in their normal state of residence. The commonwealth has has a clean civil-contract-based marriage from colonial times, and continues to lead the nation in equity with same-sex marriage.

Your public officials need to know that it is time to remove the discriminatory statutes. This is the 21st Century.

While you're at it, Governor W. M. Romney's contacts are:

State House
Office of the Governor
Room 360
Boston, MA 02133
(617) 725-4005

The other proponent of these nefarious statutes is at:

Mr. Tom Reilly
Office of the Attorney General
McCormack Building
One Ashburton Place
Boston, MA 02108
(617) 727-2200

A relatively few letters, calls and emails can make a big impact on any issue. It's cathartic!
